The Rapidly Growing Sport Compact Industry

Sport compacts, where they have been and where they are going

The sport compact industry has been around for some time now, starting back with cars like the Toyota Celica and the Acura Integra. Most of us never really noticed it or at least realized how big it was going to become.

Before not to long ago if you wanted to build a hot rod the question was are you a Chevy man, a Ford guy or a Mopar lover. But in this day and age, with gas prices at an all time high and unsurpassed technology, you have to ask yourself, “Import or domestic?” And today all the big manufacturers have at least one good choice for a performance build. Alot of those choices being compact cars!

Don’t get me wrong there are still muscle cars available on the market, it seems now more then ever. With Chevy introducing the 2010 Camaro and Dodge with the all new Challenger, the muscle car industry is alive and kicking. Some of us are cubic inch fans, where all we care about is how much motor we can fit under the hood.

But at the same time with the Chevy Cobalt SS with the supercharged Ecotec which can easily be modified in to a 500hp race engine or the Dodge Neon SRT-4 we definitely have the choice. Unlike before if you wanted to build a sport compact your choices where very limited. It was pretty much an Acura Integra, Honda Civic or a Nissan 240sx. This is all because of the noise the sport compact industry has made, and the attention it has received from it.

With the sport compact industry growing the amount it has over the last 5 to 6 years it’s obvious why the domestic car companies have jumped in on the action. Which brings us a new challenge, finding the performance parts we are looking for to build the sport compact of our choice. For example when trying to buy a header for a 2004 Chevy Cavalier, it was impossible to just walk in to my local hot rod store or car parts store and find it on the shelf. Ordering online was pretty much the only option. Of course every city is different and we can be sure there are stores out there to find the part you’re looking for. Also I’ve personally noticed import performance parts are a little easier to find.

So as you can imagine the webstores that sell sport compact performance parts are popping up constantly. But a good mechanic isn’t always the best website designer! So when you find a well designed store that’s easy to navigate and consumer friendly with great customer service, it’s something to take note of.

With a love for sport compacts and a vast knowledge of the web, I have hopefully solved all of our problems of finding our performance parts. Here at CompacTuner.com we carry every kind of performance part for you sport compact from intake to exhaust. Including body kits, neon & L.E.D. lighting, dash trim kits and audio equipment. So whether your building a Honda Civic V-tec, a Nissan 350z or a Ford Focus SVT browse through our inventory at http://www.compactuner.com and see how we are making the sport compact industry grow even faster.

Aftermarket Manufacturer – The Functional Solution for Custom Truck Bodies

Truck accessories are essential part of almost all the truck bodies. Perfect truck accessories always enhance the function and also style of the Original Equipment Manufacturer truck. Aluminium Truck Bodies can never be so attractive without the help of these aftermarket manufacturers. This automotive aftermarket can be described as the indigenous part of automotive industry which is always concerned with the distribution, manufacturing, retailing, remanufacturing and also installation of various parts of the vehicle. The installation of different parts including tools, chemicals, accessories and equipments for both heavy and light vehicles are also done by the aftermarket manufacturer.

The aftermarket also covers collision, performance, appearance, replacement of various parts, etc. It supplies a large variety of service truck body’s parts of different qualities. You can get the products in different prices as well. Custom truck bodies can easily be prepared with the help of these aftermarket manufacturers.

Consumers can go to their preferred repairing centre to repair their vehicles. Professional centers are also there to repair Aluminium Truck Bodies and other service truck bodies. The repairing always makes the truck stronger.

In a typical truck body, hard parts or core parts are different from the accessories. Hard parts contain water pumps, distributors, radiators, etc. Some of well known accessories that are essential for a truck body include nerf bars, tonneau covers, grille guards, autocrats, chrome fender trim, billet grilles, hood deflectors etc. These accessories are used to make custom truck bodies. Bed extenders can also be included in the list.

Till the year 1990 the concept of beautification of the truck by extra accessories was not popular. Earlier some famous manufacturer such as Ford Motor Company, General Motors, American Motors, Chryster, etc. regarded light trucks such as Dodge, Jeep, Ford, etc, as work vehicle. They did not adapt any accessories in these truck bodies. In these cases it can be seen that aftermarket manufacturers were always concerned about work heightening accessories such as spreaders, life gates and snowplows. With these accessories any truck will look extra ordinary. Sometimes these accessories also help in increasing the utility of the truck.

But in later days the aftermarket manufacturers extended their services and offered large forms of truck sizes and also types. Trucks are at present looking more gorgeous with the usage of these attractive accessories. Custom truck bodies are famous for their style and utility. The truck owners have become more attached to their truck nowadays. They need something more than just a mere tool box to decorate the Aluminium truck bodies. The demand of the owners to decorate their trucks with accessories is increasing day by day. The aftermarket manufacturers are always there to fulfill the need of these truck owners. There are a number of accessories to increase the functionalities and style of a truck. These accessories should always be well-fitted and co-ordinate with the design of the service truck bodies.

Various manufacturers are there who are famous for truck accessories. Specialty Equipment Market Association or SEMA is such a primary association for manufacturing custom truck bodies’ accessories.

Tips For Buying Used Cars

Many individuals find the car they want in classified used cars ads. You can, many times, negotiate with the owners and get very reasonable price. Typical the owners clean up the cars and make any repairs that will make the cars more saleable.

Some car owners just want to get rid of their car or truck. They will label their car, “for sale as is.” What that means is that if there are any problems or repairs that need to be taken care of, the owner is not responsible for making them. The person buying the car must accept the car regardless of it condition.

When you buy a car through classified ads from a private party, you will not have a warranty. Most cars sold by private individuals can’t afford to give a warranty, and you are expected to assume all the risks associated with buying that car.

However, there are some ads that are placed in the classifieds by used car dealer. These cars will typically have a 1 – 3 month warranty. This makes the buyers feel safe about that used auto.

Before you scan the classified used cars ads, you need to make a list of the type of car you want to purchase. The more details you can list about what you want to buy, the quicker you will be able to locate that vehicle in the classified.

Some owners have customized their cars before selling them to dealers or before posting them for sale in classifieds. These added features will increase the price car. If you like these features, you may get a bargain, but if you don’t then you may decide not to buy the car.

Since most car classified listings have limited description space, owner can use abbreviations to describe their car. The common abbreviations are WGN for station wagon, HB for hatchback, P/U for pickup truck, and XTRA CAB for two small seats or extra room behind the front seats.

To describe the conditions of the car, most car advertisers use abbreviations such as EX COND to mean excellent condition, G COND to mean good condition, CLN to mean clean or in good shape.

The Classified used cars ads also use A/C to refer to air conditioning system, S/R to men sunroof, MNRF to mean moon roof, LTHR to mean leather interior.

Many buyers are particular with the transmission of the used car. Car owners use STD or stick shift for standard transmission and use A/T for automatic transmission.

The best classified ads to look for are in the regional daily newspaper, if you want fairly used cars. If you want to check the used car classifieds, your selections are wide and varied. Most of the dealers who posted on used car classifieds section of the newspapers have a website for further viewing and specifications of the car being advertised.

From the hundreds of car ads on Classified used cars ads, narrow down your choices to the top 10. Divide these 10 into two groups. Contact the owners from the first list of five list of five, to set up an appointment. Take a mechanic friend to help you check out the car, or set up with an auto shop to inspect the car for you.

While doing your inspection, you should request to have a look at the car’s maintenance records. Some car owners do not keep good maintenance records, so you have to decide if this is acceptable to you. Even though a car appears in good condition and has a good feel when you drive it, always do a good inside and outside inspection.

Inspect the car underneath and all over for collision repair. Look for difference in paint color, lines that are not straight, or rust in various places. Check to make sure there are no fluid leaks. Move the car to another location and let it sit there for 5 minutes or so then check for leaks.

If you have found a car you like, then make an offer. Never offer the asking price. Start with the sentence, “What’s the lowest price you will take for the car. I notice that is has this problem and that problem?” Then follow up with the statement, “I have cash I can give you right now.”

God of War III

Mr Drake, Solid Snake, and the entire Helghan army, would you kindly step aside? Kratos has arrived.

In a recent interview with 1up.com, Cory Balrog, game director on God of War II, spoke about the reaction to the seminal PS2 game when it was first shown to Sony bigwigs Shuhei Yoshida and Phil Harrison. ‘Very good, thank you,’ said Harrison. ‘I just have to ask this, since it seems like the obvious question. Why are we not doing this on PS3?’

God of War II was a beautiful swansong that ushered in the final days of PS2, a final testament to the system’s true power. Yet Harrison had a valid point. Everything God of War does with such brilliance – crafting visceral, bloodthirsty set pieces; creating a tangible sense of scale; placing one man against the odds – it was always going to work far better on the more powerful PS3.

Well, Harrison may have moved on to Atari, but Kratos has indeed made his way to PlayStation 3, and by all accounts its looking to be one hell of a ride. Just as God of War II wrung every last drop of power from PS2’s ageing technology, God of War III looks to scrape the PS3 barrel clean, with a hi-def, blood spattered adventure utilizing all of the machine’s potential.

Already wild claims are being thrown around – one being that the new model for Kratos alone couldn’t fit on PlayStation 2 as it doesn’t have the necessary memory. If this is the case, then PS2 would surely melt under the pressure if it attempted to convey the immeasurable scale found throughout the rest of God of War III.

The game picks up where God of War II left off, with Kratos clinging to the back of colossal Titan Gaia as it climbs Mount Olympus. Driven by hatred and vengeance, Kratos will stop at nothing to see the god Zeus dead, even if it means reigniting the Titanomachy – a colossal war between the gods and titans.

It really brings a new meaning to the ‘war’ part of the title. The epic battle will rage throughout the course of the game, framing the events of the story or taking place in the background. Imagine Kratos tearing through hordes of undead while Helios, chariot God of the sun, does battle with a flaming titan in the distance – the Colossus of Rhodes opening battle of God of War II will look positively minuscule by comparison.

Indeed, the game will take place on the bodies of the titans themselves as they climb to the peak of Mount Olympus. Some can be measured in acres, while others will tower as high as Chicago’s Sears Tower. Imagine Shadow of the Colossus multiplied tenfold. These moveable levels – made possible by the raw grunt of the PlayStation 3 – will change in real time, too, meaning gravity can unexpectedly shift as the beasts clamber their way towards the game’s inevitable conclusion.

A new weapons system allows you to change your equipment on the fly, and a streamlined list of combos also means thrashing at enemies using the Cestus, which is a massive, boulder-sized gauntlet, will be just as effective as the Blades of Athena. Rideable creatures will also appear, enabling Kratos to wear down larger creatures before jamming his blades into their shoulders, the pain inflicted translated into control.

Game director Stig Asmussen recently went on record to say that God of War III will ’start with a bang and end with a bang.’ And from the look of things today, there will also be plenty of raw, bloodthirsty bangs throughout the middle. By sticking to the tried-and-tested God of War triptych that is bloodshed, brutality and beauty, and building upwards and outwards in every way possible, Sony has demonstrated that it knows its games and the gamers who play them.

With PlayStation 3’s sheer power working away behind the scenes, we can expect some truly jaw-dropping sequences – there will be no smoke and mirrors here. So, all good things must come to an end, and if the developer is to be believed, this will be Kratos’ final outing. At least he won’t be going down without a fight.

Get Down & Dirty for the Best Fitness of your Life

Trail running destroys stress and reveals the best nature has to offer. Currently, there’s huge growth in trail running in South Africa, with a packed race calendar and most events being over-subscribed. But we’re still behind the US. Severely restricted entry limits, lack of true altitude training and not enough road and trail running crossover are the main obstacles the sport faces. Overcome these obstacles and better your trail times with these simple steps.

Listen to your Feet

If you can hear the loud, steady slap of your feet on gravel, it means you are landing hard on your mid-foot. This kind of undue stress can lead to injury as it means a large amount of force is being transmitted back into your body. If you’re running unevenly or rolling your feet inwards (pronation) or outwards (supination), see a biokineticist.

Head Up and Shoulders Down

Try not to move your head or shoulders excessively, and keep your body upright at all times. If you’re bobbing, leaning forwards or gyrating all over the place, you’re wasting energy. If you’re hunching your shoulders, pretend you’re holding a $1 coin between your index finger and thumb. It’ll help you to relax your shoulders. When you get to tricky ascents or descents, use your arms for balance, holding them away from your body, and pump them to gain extra momentum.

Don’t Rush into your Training

If you don’t prepare yourself properly for trail running, you’ll hurt yourself. Simple. Rather ease into the training by aiming for roughly 75 percent of your normal jogging pace, and increase your distances weekly by no more than 10 percent. Once you’re comfortable on the dirt, you’ll instinctively know when to accelerate and when to conserve energy. To build up your leg power for trail routes, incorporate some hill runs, and concentrate on shortening your stride to power up the inclines. Also, use a mix of intervals and long, slower runs to build up your fitness and sprint ability. Aim to do off-road training on a variety of surfaces at least twice a week.

Practice Reading the Route Ahead

While running on the road is about splits and poly shorts, trail running is about reading the lay of land in front of you. Athletes have different levels of technique, strength and speed over different types of terrain in trail running, whereas in road racing the route plays a much less significant role. You need to choose the path that will save you energy, time and twisted ankles.

Street Fighter IV

Daddy’s back and he’s very angry.

When the last ‘proper’ Street Fighter game came out, over 10 years ago, it is safe to say that the characters had lost 1) much of their appeal and 2) the fan base they enjoyed during their heyday of the 90s. Street Fighter 3 3rd Strike did not exactly make much of an impact, with Ken and Ryo joining a bunch of misfits many people could care less about. It was beautiful, technical and a stunningly animated fighter, but it simply did not strike a cord with the masses. Had the fighting legend lost its way?

After countless bouts we can say it with a resounding ‘NO’. Street Fighter veterans will find the game familiar – some might even say that it’s too familiar. The original cast of fighters are back: Ryu and Ken, Chun-Li and Blanka to Vega and Bison.

Their fighting style feels the same (at least with execution) meaning fans around the world will feel at home with set up straight away, making the arcade stick add-on that much more essential. Thankfully there are some differences in place and each one of those is a positive step in the right direction.

Newcomers who feel more at ease with games like Soul Calibur 4 or Dead or Alive 4 needn’t be intimidated. Dragon-punching, spinning-bird kicking and performing the two and three hit-combos are now much, much easier and less technical. For the first time, in a 2D-based beat’ em up, your analogue stick will be of much more use than your D-Pad. The timing to pull off special moves is more generous, meaning that the barrier against more skilled opponents has been lowered.

It’s no longer about whether you can pull the moves off, but rather if you can use them appropriately or link them to more complex combos. One example of this is the new focus attack. Similar to that of Tekken, you have the opportunity to charge up a powerful blow, at the same time allowing you to absorb an attack. Unleashing it will stun your opponent for a few seconds, leaving him vulnerable to any other attack you desire.

There is also a great fight-leveler, so anyone taking a beating has the chance to make a dramatic Britney Spears-like comeback. Lose enough health and your combo is activated which allows you to execute a last-second attack to bring yourself back into the fight. Perhaps what makes Street Fighter 4 so unique is Capcom taking the 2D fighting template and making it relevant and exciting to gamers used to next-gen stunners. The animation in Street Fighter 4 is breathtaking to behold. Animations feel weighty, punches and kicks have real impact and each character is brimming with personality.

When taking a hit, you see the pain on their faces and their eyes nearly bulging out of their sockets. Blanka looks exceptionally aggressive and less cartoony than before, whereas Chun-Li is more fluid and graceful than ever before. Characters are more balanced now. The once weaker characters, like Blanka, now have the moves to accommodate their weakness, making them much more worthy opponents than before.

Zangief and E Honda (whose 360 moves were hard to get to grips with for novices) have also been beefed up, but they are naturally slower. The normal strength versus speed element is very obvious. With Capcom balancing all the characters and fine-tuning them to perfection, your choice of a character you enjoy playing is that much easier. If you chose Blanka in the past, your strategy would’ve been to get as close to your opponent as possible. Should you fight someone like Dhalsim, with his stretchy arms and legs, it would’ve been over before you knew it. You can now choose any character from the roster and be certain that you have a chance against the Ken-abusing scum.

New characters are as follows: Abel the grappler, secret agent C. Viper, kung fu fighter Rufus, luchador El Fuerte, Seth the boss and Gouken, a secret character. What strikes us is that these characters all mix so well with the old cast… or rather, the old cast did not age. However, what has changed is Capcom’s view on society. Guile was their take on Americans in the 80s – a strong, muscular and athletic soldier, whereas with Rufus they seem to be insinuating that Americans are all obese big-mouths, with streams of dialog being read at the end of each match (where other fighters finish it off with one small sentence). It does add to the humor in the game though, and essentially, to the overall balance.

All these new characters and moves would be pointless without any human interaction. An offline versus mode is there for your one-on-one battles as you have enjoyed in the past, but it is the new online mode that will get you excited. First, the bad news: only two players can enter the lobby at any given time. With that out the way, the rest works very well. To find a stranger or friend online takes but mere seconds to connect, even on our dodgy Internet lines. Once you have fought your opponent you are awarded with Battle Points that are used for nothing more than bragging rights. The higher the score, the more fights you have won. Battle Points might sound meaningless, but you forget that it is our human nature to be competitive and as such you will cherish each point you earn online.

So, we like it and it’s by no means an exaggeration to suggest that this is up there with the greatest fighters ever made. It’s not button-mashy like Soul Calibur, it does not require a colossal 20-button command like Dead or Alive and instead focuses on what is important – simplicity, strategy and fun. Exactly what you need before you begin to master its intricacies.

Wonder Why It Is Hard To Locate Chinese Scooter Parts?

When it comes to owning a Chinese scooter, one of the most common issues is looking for spare parts and accessories to keep your machine going. Although it is cheaper than a Japanese or European brand, it becomes useless when you are not able to use it because of a faulty throttle or carburetor. Many motorcycle repair shops refuse to provide service because they do not have the available parts or accessories, and Chinese Scooters are a whole different animal than Motocycles.

The good news is that there are many companies that specialize in Chinese scooter parts. Whether you are considering buying a 150cc moped or only a 50cc, the first thing you should consider is the accessibility of the parts for the model you have in mind. In general, scooter and moped dealers are trustworthy individuals since they also have a reputation to protect and uphold.

Since suppliers of Chinese scooter Parts are using their names for the products they are supplying, it is best to keep the original product number of your scooter. While the Chinese scooter part may have a different name, it may actually be a similar model from the same factory. Using the product number in searching for Chinese scooter parts can expedite the search for the scooter part.

If you are not able to find Chinese scooter Parts from a local dealer, do not stop your search there, you’ll be able to find many online. There is no need to contact the factory as most factories are in China and won’t sell to retail customers, only to dealers who buy in bulk.

When searching for a product, it would be much helpful if you would provide the part supplier with a picture of your desired part, as well as a detailed description of the part you are looking for. This way, the supplier will be able to easily locate the scooter part that is right for you. One such company, www.scooterstock.com has a “Bounty Hunter Program”, which provides assistance in searching for hard-to-locate parts. They also have a toll free number and on online chat to help facilitate ordering the right parts.
